Blending Cultures, Crafting Stories: Inside Chantelle’s Homes in Melbourne and Bali

What if your home could tell the story of who you are? That’s exactly what Chantelle Clark has done—not just once, but in two incredibly different parts of the world.

In this episode of How I Live, I had the privilege of stepping inside two of Chantelle’s most personal spaces: her soulful home in Melbourne, Australia, and her serene bohemian retreat in Bali, Indonesia. Each home is a reflection of her journey, her identity, and her unique design philosophy.

A Home Far From Home

When Chantelle moved from the UK to Melbourne 14 years ago, she found herself crafting a sanctuary that felt like an extension of her identity. Being so far from home, her space became a way to hold onto her culture, her passions, and her story.

Her Melbourne home is filled with touches that reflect her love for African and Indonesian decor, travel, and music. Each room is a vignette of her life—globally inspired, full of soul, and brimming with character.

A Brave New Chapter in Bali

After years of visiting Bali and falling in love with its people, landscapes, and culture, Chantelle made the bold decision to move there post-COVID. She left behind her corporate career to pursue her passion for design, creating spaces that blend African and Balinese influences in the most breathtaking ways.

Her Bali home is a masterclass in harmony and intention, where every detail—neutral palettes, terracotta tiles, carved wooden furniture, and tribal accents—reflects a balance of tranquility and cultural richness.

Blending Cultures Through Design

What’s so striking about Chantelle’s work is her ability to seamlessly mix African and Balinese elements. Both cultures share a deep respect for craftsmanship, natural materials, and storytelling, and Chantelle brings these values to life in her spaces. From tribal oars that symbolize movement and connection to handmade Balinese furniture, every piece feels meaningful and deeply personal.

More Than a Home: The Bali Design Retreat

Chantelle’s journey doesn’t end with her homes. She’s taken her passion for design to a new level, hosting the Bali Design Retreat—a curated experience for anyone seeking inspiration, connection, and a deeper appreciation for culture and creativity.
