About

reflektion design african decor brand owner anitra terrell

Reflektion Design began in 2006 in Ghana, West Africa. Of course I did not know that at the time but that is where the seed was planted. I was selected as a Fulbright Scholar and spent 8 weeks in Ghana immersed in not only the culture but also the process of creating various African textiles along with the sights, sounds and wares of the African marketplace. This is where I felt alive and connected to the community.

But it wasn't until late 2013 after being laid off that I revisited my love affair with Ghana. I was at a crossroads but instead of feeling defeated I considered it opportunity to forge my own path. When I thought about the happiest moments of my life Ghana surfaced repeatedly. It was then I realized I had to share my passion for African textiles and culture with others and Reflektion Design was officially launched.

Philosophy

Your home is the ultimate canvas for self-expression. From the lighting fixtures to wall color items in your home should reflect who you are, spark memories of past adventures, inspire new ones and be the ultimate statement of your style.

Instead we often settle for decor with little self relevance or imagination. Cookie cutter decor void of visual aesthetics and most importantly void of you. You are vibrant and worldly.

You value authenticity, sustainability, and meaningful connections to the pieces in your home and seek to showcase your individuality through unique decor that supports artisans and tell a compelling story.

I’m Anitra and I help culturally inspired decorators and intentional gift-givers infuse their home with joy and a sense of connection with our curated collection of authentic, artisan-made African decor.

From Their Hands to Your Home

Since 2014 we've established relationships with artisans in Ghana, Kenya and Uganda to create unique decorative objects from African art and tableware to textiles and wall fans that transform spaces.

These relationships have enabled 100's of African artisans to earn a fair livable wage which not only helps them but sets future generations up for success as well.
